My Favorite Looks From the 2017 MET Gala

This year's theme for the MET Gala was "in-betweeness" inspired by the body of work of Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo. "In betweeness" has been described as the paradox that lies within her art, architecture and the general breaking down of barriers. Unlike traditional award shows the Met Gala is like fashion prom that gives you a chance to dress outside the box. Here are my 10 favorite looks from the 2017 MET Gala.

Rita Ora was a stunner in a platinum blonde pixie cut head piece (that took 3 days to create) with a sleek cat eye and bold crimson red lip.

Lily Collins looked like a silent era film star with her sleek black bob with blunt bangs. Her makeup was a deep purple burgundy lip with defined lashes.

Hair by Gregory Russell Makeup by Fiona Stiles

Priyanka Copra makeup brought back 90's grudge with a metallic silver eye and a brown lip. She wore her hair in a messy top knot.

Makeup by Patti Dubroff

Blake LIvely wore a long voluminous ponytail that showed off her beachy texture with a little extra help in the texture department from crimping. Which was the perfect compliment to her dress. Her makeup was kept fresh and soft with a touch of gold.

Hair by Rod Ortega Makeup by Kristofer Buckle

Janelle Monae was a beautiful futuristic swan the night of the gala. Her pixie cut was adorned with diamonds. While her makeup was lashes for days paired with an orange red lip.

Hair by Nikki Helms Makeup by Jessica Smalls

Rihanna always goes all out for the Met Gala and this year was not any different. She wore her hair in a sleek top knot with full bangs. Her makeup was an exaggerated frosted magenta smoky eye and blush with a berry lip.

Hair by Yusef Makeup by Lora Arellano

Gigi Hadid wore a playful undone updo with a face framing piece left out. For makeup she chose an exaggerated deconstructed cat eye. Her edgy look was taken a step further with a faux bleached brow.

Hair by Bryce Scarlett Makeup by Erin Parsons

Zoe Kravitz is still giving me life with her new pixie cut. Which reminds me of a modern day Audrey Hepburn. Her makeup was a smoky eye with a pink lip.

Hair by Nikki Nelms Makeup by Nina Park

Cara Delevingne futuristic vibe didn't stop at her metallic suit. The actress and model debuted her recently shaved head by coating it in silver paint and sequins. Her makeup was a soft smoky, pale pink lip with a bold brow. Actual crystals was applied to her cheekbones, forehead and neck for a twinkling skin effect.

Makeup by Romy Soleimani

Zendaya was my favorite look of the night. In a sea full of bobs, top knots and pixie cuts Zenedaya's gorgeous voluminous curly mane was everything to me. Her makeup was soft and romantic with a sweep of coral on her eyes, lips and cheeks.

Hair by Dante Blandshaw Makeup by Sheika Daleyy
